1. User authentication, authorization and administration

1.1 Register IO for use of the VM RMI system

Registration to MaRIS Pay & Go is via the Register/Log-in page
Registration has 3 options based on user type:
Vehicle Owner – Vehicle owner or registered keeper will accept the terms and conditions of use and will only have access to RMI information.
Independent Operator (IO) – Independent workshops or businesses that require a single login with no administration of additional user accounts and will accept the terms & conditions on an individual basis.
Independent Operator Legal Representative - The person with overall legal responsibility for an independent operator and will accept the terms and conditions and provide all the relevant account details, such as, VAT number, company business address. This user can facilitate the set-up of the independent operator’s employees to use the system.
During the registration process, contact, address and invoicing details will be required, also depending on business TAX/country status then VAT/NIF/Fiscal code may also be required.
A user can self select their user name within the defined systems requirements.
The user details will be sent via the registered email address, the email will contain a secure link to proceed to the subscription payment process.
 

1.2 Register IO employee for use of the VM RMI system


The Independent Operator Legal Representative can register up to 5 employees, this is completed via the IO Employee Administration menu.

 

1.3 Maintain IO status

Independent Operator details can be managed via the subscription details menu.

 

1.4 Maintain user status

Independent Operator can change both their company and individual details within the Subscription details menu. Independent Operator Legal Representative can change their company details within the Subscription details menu and the defined Independent Operator employees in the IO Employee Administration menu.Independent Operator employee (under a legal representative) can change their individual details.Password resetting is done via the Password Reset.
 

1.5 Request to de-register IO employee

An Independent Operator Employee can be de-registered by their Independent Operator Legal Representative in the IO Employee Administration menu.
 

1.6 Login to VM RMI system

Log-in to MaRIS Pay & Go is via the Register/Log-in page using the user credentials that were created during the registration and provided by email to the user.
On initial log-in, the user will be requested to change their system generated password to their own and will then proceed to subscription purchasing.
 

1.7 Grant access to security related RMI (SERMI)

Access to SERMI via Trust Centre will be rolled out as each Country applies the required approval, until that is in place, users should contact us for details.

More information about the relevant process and trust centres can be found on the SERMI website. Security related RMI for Honda relates to the operations of key coding, ECU management and secure reprogramming (2023 YM -) using Honda Diagnostic Software (HDS)

2. Payment for RMI

Payment is taken via credit card using worldline. Subscription prices can be found in the FAQ section. Subscriptions are time based and start immediately once payment is made. Please note that your credit card company may apply a charge for foreign currency transactions.

3. Vehicle identification

3.1 Vehicle identification through use of VIN

Vehicle identification via its VIN is completed in the VIN search, this will give relevant information which may be needed to identify specific repair and maintenance procedures when navigating the information in MaRIS.

This may relate to Area code, KE and KG types are for the European market and define right hand drive (RHD) and left hand drive (LHD) respectively.

3.2 Vehicle type identification via product features

The RMI can be searched using the Model name, Model code and Model year. 

4. Provide selection methods for RMI

4.1 Select information type

Information is presented in several categories in MaRIS to help identify their type. 
These are: 
Campaign bulletins 
Service bulletins 
General information

NOTE: Not all categories will be available for all models. 
 

4.2 Search by standardised terms 

Searches by the standardised terms that are defined in a Digital Annex according to ISO 18542 can be completed in the keyword search. 

4.3 Navigate using product structure

By either a VIN search or Model Name/code/year selection, relevant systems can be selected to narrow down the specific information provided. Keywords can also be used to identify specific information. 

4.4 Select by document

Searches can be completed using keywords and if a document has a specific identifier e.g. Service Bulletin number , then this can be used to search for it.

5. Retrieve information packages

5.1 Workshop procedures

Each operation relevant to the removal and installation of items can be found in the Removal and Installation section of MaRIS. 

5.2 Wiring diagrams

Both schematic and 3D wiring diagrams can be found following a vehicle search in MaRIS. Some relevant data from the VIN search maybe required to determine the vehicles model type and its fitted equipment. 

NOTE: Not all models have 3d wiring diagrams available. 

5.3 Technical service bulletin

Technical service and Campaign bulletins can be found in separate sections following a vehicle search in MaRIS. These will be found under the categories of Campaign bulletins and Service bulletins. 

5.4 Recall information

Recall information will be indicated when a VIN search is completed. It will also be flagged up if an affected VIN is searched directly in MaRIS or Electronics Parts Catalogue. Recall checks can also be completed on each countries website. Please contact your local authorised Honda dealer for support with completion of any outstanding recall campaigns. 

5.5 Maintenance schedule

Maintenance schedule for each specific model can be found in MaRIS, these are in the General Information section once a VIN or Model Name/code/year has been searched. 

5.6 Spare parts

Information on spare parts is available in the Electronic Parts Catalogue (WebEPC), accessed via the WebEPC link on the main MaRIS Pay & Go page. Honda genuine spare parts are available to purchase from all authorised Honda dealers. Please contact your local dealer directly. 

5.7 Accessories

 Information regarding fitting or repairing Honda genuine accessories can be found in the Publications tab of Maris under Accessory Manuals. Honda genuine accessories are available from all authorised Honda dealers. Please contact your local dealer directly. 

5.8 Labour times

Labour times/Flat Rate Times (FRT) for replacing specific parts are found in the Electronic Parts Catalogue (WebEPC) this is accessed via the link on the main MaRIS Pay & Go page. On the LON/FRT tab, each part number will have the required replacement time listed. A guide to the LON/FRT can be found in the Forward tab, that also give times for adjustments etc. when parts are not replaced. 

5.9 Converted vehicles

Honda does not support converted vehicles and cannot provided any technical documentation. 

5.10 Special tools

Honda special tools are identified within MaRIS procedures and can be purchased from any authorised Honda dealers. Please note that you can also use specific tools that are part of the Honda Loan Tool Programme. 6. Vehicle diagnostics

6.1 DTC resolution 

Using either direct linking from Honda Diagnostic Software (HDS) or using the DTC search function in MaRIS with the recorded DTC, both DTC troubleshooting and DTC advanced diagnostics.

6.2 VM symptom resolution

Using the i-Troubleshooting, relevant symptoms can be categorised and suitable guidance and relevant troubleshooting steps can be obtained. 

6.3 Integrated diagnostics 

Using direct linking from Honda Diagnostic Software (HDS) using a suitable vehicle communication interface (VCI), DTC troubleshooting can be completed with a live data view aiding the route to a resolution.

7. Updating, replacing and tuning of modules (ECUs)

7.1 Updating and replacing modules

Re-writing or registering replacement units is completed using Honda Diagnostic Software (HDS) and a suitable Vehicle Connection interface (VCI). This will need access to SERMI and the relevant approval. A valid and active MaRIS Pay & Go account will also be needed to log-in to the required services via an internet connection. 

7.2 Tuning kit 

Honda does not support tuning kits and cannot provided any technical documentation.

8. Electronic maintenance history

Electronic maintenance history is provided by Honda's Digital Service Record which can be found here. Independent operators can register to record service and maintenance. 

NOTE: Digital Service Record is only available for certain models and in certain countries.
